Cambodia Records Over US $13 Billion in First Quarter Trade

PHNOM PENH: In the first quarter of 2022, Cambodia reached US $13.162 billion in total trade volume, which is a 9.1% increase from the same period in 2021. This is according to the latest figures from the General Department of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Cambodia exported US $5.716 billion worth of products to foreign markets in the first quarter of the year, seeing a 25.7% increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, there has been a 0.9% decrease in imports, recorded at a total of US $7.445 billion.

Among Cambodia's foreign export markets, the United States is by far the biggest, with the volume of exports amounting to US $2.15 billion — an increase of 43.7% from 2021. The United States is followed by Vietnam (US $758.8 million), Thailand (US $248.5 million), and China (US $333.5 million).

Cambodia also saw a 30.1% increase in goods and raw materials imported from China compared to the first three months of 2021, amounting to over US $2.551 billion.
